Fort Pierce, Florida, April 22, 2024 – A trove of documents pertaining to the FBI’s investigation into former President Trump and the subsequent raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate in 2022 was unsealed Monday evening by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who presides over the case involving classified materials.

United States of America v. Donald J. Trump, Docket # 23-cr-80101-AMC-1 – Unsealed FBI Documents 4-22-2024 (Docket # 469-1)

The released documents offer a detailed account of the personnel involved in the Mar-a-Lago raid and a step-by-step timeline of the operation. Among the documents is an FBI file revealing that the agency’s probe into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified information was codenamed “Plasmic Echo.”

“This document contains information that is restricted to case participants,” the file states, identifying the investigation as “PLASMIC ECHO; Mishandling Classified or National Defense Information, Unknown Subject; Sensitive Investigation Matter.”

Another memo, now unsealed, documents Attorney General Merrick Garland’s role in the investigation. Dated March 30, 2022, the memo indicates Garland’s authorization for the investigation to escalate to a “full investigation.”

In addition, an FBI document dated August 17, 2022, outlines the unprecedented raid on Trump’s Palm Beach estate, providing insight into the personnel involved and a minute-by-minute overview of the operation, commencing with the FBI’s arrival at Mar-a-Lago.

The operation involved accessing a safe in the “45 Office” and transporting seized documents to Washington, specifically to the FBI’s Washington Field Office (WFO).

Personnel involved included agents from the FBI’s Washington Field Office, FBI Headquarters, and Miami Field Office, along with attorneys from the Department of Justice and the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Florida.

On the morning of the raid, Trump characterized his estate as “under siege” by the FBI but claimed full cooperation with investigators.
