Fulton County, Georgia
Sidney Powell, a former attorney for Donald Trump, has entered a guilty plea to six misdemeanor charges at a Fulton County courthouse in Georgia. These charges revolve around conspiracy to commit intentional interference with the performance of election duties regarding the 2020 election.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is recommending a 6-year term of probation, a $6,000 fine, and an additional $2,700 restitution payment to the State of Georgia as a sentence. Alongside these penalties, Powell has also committed to writing a formal letter of apology to the people of Georgia. Powell has also agreed to to provide “truthful testimony” at any future hearings and trials pertaining to other defendants, including against her former client, President Trump.
Sidney Powell is one of the 19 defendants charged in the Indictment brought by Fani Willis in August. Another former Trump attorney, Kenneth Chesebro, is scheduled to start trial on Friday, October 20, 2023.
